Laura M Collins Designs is a GREEN Company:
- All light bulbs in our studio are CFLs (compact fluorescent lightbulbs).
- We support and belong to CSA (Community Supported Agriculture)
- We purchase "Green Energy" to 100% offset our carbon footprint.
- Our studio is on our land, eliminating the need for commuting; we use local talent for staffing.
- We use a treeless, 100% cotton paper from Cranes for our printing.
- We do not use bottled water, but filtered well water from our land.
Laura M Collins Designs believes in the "Law of Return." That is, abundance & prosperity are within everyone's reach and by sharing our abundance & prosperity, not only do we create more, but help others to join in this dynamic circle of creativity.
It is with this in mind that on a regular basis, the following charities are supported with either monetary donations or by knitting items in need .
Stray
Hearts Animal Shelter:
Laura's favorite charitable organization, Stray Hearts is a no-kill
shelter housing 68 dogs, over 50 cats and various kittens & puppies.
Besides monetary contributions, Laura walks & trains dogs,and has
recently become taken the training to become 'pack leader' with harder
to place dogs, making their chances of adoption better. Laura also maintains
the shelter's website, and fosters dogs waiting for their forever homes.
Knitters without Borders
is a group of knitters whose monetary contributions benefit Doctors
without Borders .
Afghans
for Afghanistan: Wool
clothing knit for the children of Afghanistan.
New Mexico Wildlife Center: As a nationally recognized education and rehabilitation facility, The Wildlife Center preserves wildlife by actively educating people to care for ecosystems and by rehabilitating and releasing wild animals into safe habitats. This is where Laura brings baby birds who are orphaned.
